Join Accessibility Resources as an American Sign Language (ASL)/English interpreter providing services to the university community.
Position Summary The ASL/English interpreter serves as a member of Accessibility Resources on the Communication Access Team and reports to the Supervisor of CART and Interpreting Services. The incumbent provides ASL/English interpreting services at an advanced level or in highly-technical settings to individuals with disabilities including students, employees, and visitors of the university. Primary interpreting settings will be academic needs across a wide range of academic programs, including both undergraduate and graduate settings, for both students and university employees. The incumbent will also provide interpreting services for university employees and large-scale events as requested. In addition to providing interpreting services, the incumbent is also responsible for scheduling and coordinating interpreting and CART services under the direction of the supervisor. The incumbent is responsible for producing accurate interpretations within the framework of professional standards. It is expected that the incumbent make independent decisions at the time of interpretation about the most effective methods to use for the delivery of ASL interpreting services. Contributes to the greater university community through service and consistently aims towards the highest standards of professionalism. This position is at 83% FTE. Hours will follow a flex schedule and may vary semester-to-semester, which may also include some night or evening hours. Work schedule will run August – May.
